Women of Indian Descent in a Mood to Rule the World

Sunita William – This American astronaut of Indian-Slovenian descent holds the record for her seven spacewalks along with the credit of 50 hours 40 minutes of spacewalk under her belt, the most for any woman till date. The medals this astronaut has proudly taken home include Navy Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and NASA Spaceflight Medal among others. The government of India has honored her with the Padma Bhushan in 2008 and the Russian government recognized her with the Medal “For Merit in Space Exploration” in 2011.
